REPORTS TO: FINANCE DIRECTOR & OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for controlling production, production procedures and processes with a goal to reduce costs, boost efficiencies and improve quality.

Utilize CERM to schedule production jobs effectively and cost efficiently to ensure on time delivery to customer.

Conduct daily production meeting with production staff to review the daily schedule, priorities and needs.

Conduct hourly follow up with each press to monitor performance to schedule.

Daily review with Director of Operations and Finance Director on the previous day’s production performance

Communicate with Account Managers throughout each day on any changes in production that impacts customer orders (ie – press maintenance, delays in materials, quality, etc.)

Utilize CERM to order materials effectively and cost efficiently from select vendors to ensure on time delivery to customer. This includes, but not limited to material, inks, plates, ribbons, tools, cores and cartons.

Work with vendors to ensure delivery expectations are met.

Attend all required company meetings.

Maintain a clean production environment.

Investigate and resolve customer questions and concerns.

Strong collaboration with Account Managers and inside staff to meet customer demands.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

To provide maintenance services to all areas of the company including the building and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Provides support for all areas of the facility and equipment including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and PLCs, drives, servo motors, etc.

2. Troubleshoots problems in a methodical manner independently. Utilizes the assistance of other technicians, contractors, and vendors for complicated/specialized issues. Disassembles and reassembles complex equipment with many parts after repairing a specific defective part within the equipment.

3. Completes repairs in a timely manner to ensure production downtime is minimized and customer due dates are not missed. This may include flexibility with own work schedule depending on coverage and expediting parts independently and/or with the support of purchasing department.

4. Performs preventative maintenance on-time based on a schedule, while also beginning to build and implement condition monitoring routes, when/where appropriate.

5. Maintains proper inventory levels in an organized manner of tooling, hardware, replacement parts, supplies, and solvents to ensure available at the facility.

6. Installs new equipment independently as well as with contractors.

7. Coordinates and/or works with contractors to complete more specialized repairs and/or installations.

8. Maintains an organized and safe environment in the facility, at the equipment, and within the maintenance department.

9. Performs miscellaneous maintenance projects as instructed by management.

10. Provides on-call support (both phone and on-site) based on an on-call schedule.

11. Documents repairs that were completed for communication within the maintenance department and to the production team members as well as general record keeping.

12. Adheres to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards set in place by the FDA at all times while on the production floor.

The Press Operator is responsible to perform all required work in a safe manner and to follow all company policies and procedures. Prior experience on Mark Andy, Nilpeter, Webtron, Comco or similar flexo label presses will be considered. Job duties will be to set up the press, complete the print job, perform quality checks and perform general press maintenance.

6. Lubricates and oils the press as needed.

11. Learn the press operation sufficiently to monitor press runs during operator breaks. The press assistant can be a natural progression to operator trainee position if interest, aptitude and good attendance are part of the press assistants demonstrated performance and skills.

12. Make plates per the Prepress Department’s design and customer requirements. Mount plates on indicated cylinder size in correct unwind and position per specifications. Clean and file plates to ensure the clearest impression on the press.

13. Pull upcoming jobs before they are due to ensure the plate mounting is complete before being needed by the press area. Keep up to date on the upcoming schedule by viewing the schedule board. Seek out job tickets, plate files and Master Books to secure additional information as needed.

14. Receive and request supplies for the plate mounting area. Coordinate with the purchasing/production planning coordinator to order needed supplies. Receives and records dies and cylinders from outside sources.

15. Return and file plates in the proper order.

16. Fill out all paperwork properly (Audit sheets, Pull sheets, Remake slips, etc.).

17. Safely operate a forklift following appropriate training & certification.

18. Return material to proper storage location. Record material usage transactions accurately in computer system.

19. Adheres to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards set in place by the FDA at all times while on the production floor.

The Press Operator is responsible for supporting the goals of the plant in the efficient operation of a narrow-web flexographic press. Their job is to print labels to specification, and assure that quality is being maintained in a consistent manner. Press Operators may be expected to run equipment with UV and/or water-based ink. Presses have anywhere from six - twelve stations.

This is a technical and skilled position, and a candidate must have flexo printing experience to be considered. An ideal candidate is someone mechanically inclined with solid printing-environment experience, strong math skills, good attendance, and a desire to grow their career with us!

Under general supervision, the printing press operator performs duties related to flexographic printing machines and software programs to effectively create materials per client request. The Press Operator role is responsible for the set up and operation of single and multi-color flexo printing presses in accordance with the printing specifications and customer requirements/expectations.

Role and Responsibilities:

+ Manage and run presses assigned.

+ Understand from TRP/Supervisor what steps to go through for verification before a job is taken down

+ Work with TRP/Supervisor to minimize and avoid future backorders, reruns, and flag sheet occurrences

+ Keep your press area clean and safe by abiding within the established company cleanliness requirements, AIB, and safety policies and procedures.

+ Properly fill out and complete all required paperwork for the job.

+ Responsible for verification of job material requirements, copy and color requirements, press diagram sheet and anilox requirements.

+ Responsible for following current and any new procedures.

+ Read, understand, and follow work instructions for each order, reporting any discrepancies to your TRP/Supervisor for correction.

+ Report any necessary maintenance required on the press or auxiliary equipment to your TRP/Supervisor and fill out the required work order.

+ Follow and perform all established procedures for quality of product, planning and trouble-shooting each order, requesting help from TRPs/Supervisors as necessary.

+ Perform daily preventative maintenance.

+ May be required to view labels with assistance of strobe light (Warning: Strobe lights may trigger epileptic seizures in persons with photosensitive epilepsy).

+ Forward any suggestions or concerns to TRP/Supervisor and work with him/her to improve your ability to run equipment proficiently, reduce waste, increase productivity, reduce set-up times, and/or any additional enhancements to help increase profit and through-put .

+ Participate in implementation of process improvement for internal/external customers through data collection, standardized procedures and teamwork.

Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

-Review job ticket instructions to determine requirements of job production.
-Inspection of films, opaque if necessary in preparation of conventional plate making.
-Film filing, organization of re-run films.
-Inspection of digital files in preparation for plate making.
-Review job proofs to digital files to insure quality control.
-Digital job folder organization.

-Finishing of plates per customer specs.

-Make sure all time and materials are properly charged to the jobs.
-When handing off jobs to co-workers/next shift, clearly communicate any information for them to complete the job.
