Primary responsibilities include:

Safety: Create a culture that fosters an injury free workplace and a safe work environment. Develop robust solutions for safety issues and conduct a STOP Audit once per month. Actively participate in all required safety training. Ensure that safety policies and procedures are followed.

Financial: Review production standards and actual performance to assure accuracy of estimated labor costs.

Capacity & Scheduling: Follow daily finishing schedule using the Customer Service Open Order report minimizing labor costs and maximizing throughput and equipment capacity. Prioritize jobs considering conflicting requests between Customer Service and Production. Maintain a visual schedule within the plant daily. Ensure shipments are made in a timely manner.

Customer Relationship: Promote a customer-focused culture in the plant, ensuring on-time deliveries of a quality product and supporting the development of new products and technologies. Determine root cause and corrective action in response to customer complaints. Make customer site visits and participate in customer visits at MCC as needed.

Production Goals and Objectives: Establish, monitor, and achieve production operating metrics (KPI’s).

Housekeeping: Ensure that the departments are maintained to a high level of cleanliness and organization. Conduct regular 6S audits.

Communication: Provide daily feedback to the management team on completion of customer orders and internal product non-conformities. Review closed jobs and KPI’s on a weekly basis and provide monthly summaries.

Raw Materials: Work with the Purchasing Manager to qualify alternate materials and provide feedback to suppliers for improvement.

Quality: Implement and monitor test protocols to ensure customer specifications are met. Verify that associates are following the PPOC process and appropriate samples are collected as required.

People: Build, develop and lead high performing teams to support the short-term and long-term growth of the plant. Activate and inspire a culture rich in employee engagement.

Lean Manufacturing: Participate in continuous improvement/Kaizen teams. Develop and support a data-driven culture of continuous improvement. Work to develop process improvements to reduce waste, increase productivity, and improve quality.

The Press Operator is responsible for supporting the goals of the plant in the efficient operation of a narrow-web flexographic press. Their job is to print labels to specification, and assure that quality is being maintained in a consistent manner. Press Operators may be expected to run equipment with UV and/or water-based ink. Presses have anywhere from six - twelve stations.

This is a technical and skilled position, and a candidate must have flexo printing experience to be considered. An ideal candidate is someone mechanically inclined with solid printing-environment experience, strong math skills, good attendance, and a desire to grow their career with us!

Job Duties:

- Exhibits a safety-first attitude in all that is done, from proper PPE compliance to keeping the work environment safe and hazard-free. Active participation on the Safety Team. Compliance with all workplace and product safety standards required

- Must read job ticket carefully before set-up and run, familiarizing self with required processes and customer expectations

- Input job order information into the computer (i.e. roll track numbers, correct activities, job specification, etc.); set specifications on the machine (measurement accuracy and attention to detail required). We utilize Radius Shop Floor data collection (SFDC).

- Maintain a clean workspace and press/press-area before, during and after each job

- Inspect jobs and flag (or remove as applicable) all defects using strobe light

(Warning: Viewing of the strobe light may trigger epileptic seizures in persons with photo sensitive epilepsy). May be expected to use other additional quality inspection tools such as AVT.

- Check completed job for quality

- Performs and supports Preventative Maintenance on press

- Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC including but not limited to handling procedures, paperwork requirements, etc. Compliance with all data integrity, product safety, and GMP standards required.

- Complete quality assurance sheet and associated documentation, making appropriate verifications prior to submitting job for supervisory approval

- Complete roll-end section of Quality Control checklist making appropriate verifications as every master roll is run on press

- Responsible for following processes and procedures

- Responsible for cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace; light maintenance of machinery and troubleshooting problems may be required as applicable and safe to do so

- Perform test runs as required

- May be expected to assist in the performance of external make-ready operations in preparation for changeover activities as needed, with Press Assistant

- May be expected to assist with clean-up activities following changeover; clean ink pans and ancillary equipment, strip plates from cylinders, conduct wash-up, etc. with Press Assistant

- Ideal candidate will cross train Press Assistant when time allows, to run press through breaks and lunches and mentor employees to support growth within our plant

- Compliance and follow-through with Lean initiatives

- Participation in department meetings, process improvement events, training, and safety program as scheduled

Job Requirements

Experience/Skills Required:

- High school education or equivalent required

- At least one year experience successfully operating a flexographic press comparable to what we have available. Prior knowledge of printing processes and previous experience as Press Assistant, or skilled Rewind Operator prior to becoming a Press Operator strongly preferred.

- Ability to run press and assist press set-up, and clean-up – ability to do all duties described plus regular requirements of safely lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs, 20+ feet in distance regularly; 75 lbs+ occasionally

- Ability to work with water-based ink, UV ink, solvents, and various print-shop chemicals

- Proven ability to understand and operate roll lifts, press equipment, and operate in a safe manner

- Proven commitment to the business (must not be on discipline for attendance, performance, or attitude)

Position Overview:

Directs and coordinates, through subordinate personnel, activities concerned with production of company products, utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of machines, equipment, and personnel.

This position is responsible for timely and accurate mixing of inks and preparation of plates, screens, and printing supplies by performing the following duties

Duties And Responsibilities

Mixing of inks per production specifications

Prepare and expose printing plates for production use.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the printing press operator performs duties related to flexographic printing machines and software programs to effectively create materials per client request. Primarily responsible for producing printed materials by following printing job specifications, setting up, operating, adjusting, and maintaining the printing equipment. Operator will change many variables in the printing press set-up, such as dimension, color or contrast. Responsible for fulfilling numerous printing projects going at the same time and create schedules to reflect these various deadlines. May also need to play the role of a press repairman/troubleshooter if maintenance on one of the machines is required.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a Monday through Friday standard work week. Overtime may be occasionally required, often on short notice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Works in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.

• Creates the specified print material, maintaining the printing equipment and keeping inventory readily stocked

• Make suggestions in the design and layout of jobs to be printed

• Operates, adjusts, and maintains the printing equipment to ensure that it functions properly by taking preventive maintenance measures and followings manufacturers’ maintenance tips.

• Stay up to date on and inquire about new maintenance and operation techniques.

• Inspect and manage the printing machine ensure the production of high quality products.

• Monitor printing quality by adjusting ink distribution, level of speed and machine temperature.

• Maintain production quality by inspecting all finished materials carefully to identify any errors that might have occurred during production and correct them to prevent client dissatisfaction and rejects.

• Inspect all printing equipment and materials to ensure that they are not in shortage and will place an order for new ones when they are not adequate.

• Troubleshoot print machines, depending on the situation

• Most job duties will be performed in a warehouse/production environment where working conditions can be cold, wet, slippery and noisy. Requires the ability to repetitively lift and carry 50lbs and frequent walking, including going up and down stairs, bending, standing for long periods and carrying/moving equipment, and supplies. Work can be impacted by constant interruptions and urgent changes in job priorities.

· Design art for Flexo Plate Production built to specific job production requests

· Apply knowledge and experience with the pre-press and imaging processes to properly design the computer graphics for the manufacturing process

· Create art and proofs, proofread, and edit art files to fulfill customer orders based on customer specification

· Manage archived graphic job files according to client

· Modifying designs based on special instructions provided by the customer

· Prepare and color correct graphics for optimal printing quality

· Triage reprint cases

· Apply considerations to trapping, bleeds, Registration limitations, minimum line weights and type sizes associated with lithographic and flexographic specifications

· Apply considerations to color management for repeatability

Qualifications:

· Minimum 3 years Graphic Artist Experience, preferably with Flexographic technologies

This position is responsible for the operations of a flexographic printing press. The incumbent of this position will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with a high attention to detail. The incumbent will set up and operate a high-speed flexographic printing press, ensuring completion of print jobs in accordance with quality standards and production goals.

Minimum Qualifications

-1 year of printing experience in a flexo-environment

-Post-secondary technical/vocational coursework

-3 years printing experience in a flexo-environment

-Mechanical aptitude/ability to make basic machine repairs

Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

-Review job ticket instructions to determine requirements of job production.
-Inspection of films, opaque if necessary in preparation of conventional plate making.
-Film filing, organization of re-run films.
-Inspection of digital files in preparation for plate making.
-Review job proofs to digital files to insure quality control.
-Digital job folder organization.

-Finishing of plates per customer specs.
-Pre-Packaging of plates for shipment, wrapping in foam, kraft paper, organizing proofs to ship with plates, etc.
-Perform preventive maintenance on equipment when necessary.
-QC all work performed following the department SOP’s. Check off, sign, and date checklists.
-Participate in the quality process by following SOP’s and giving feedback for possible improvement ideas to Department Heads. Seek feedback for jobs on the list that you had involvement with.
-Make sure all time and materials are properly charged to the jobs.
-When handing off jobs to co-workers/next shift, clearly communicate any information for them to complete the job.

Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), Technical degree in printing preferred. Requires a minimum 24 month of relevant experience in press operation in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
