The Folder Gluer Operator is responsible for set-up, adjustment, monitoring and operating folder/gluer machinery to produce finished, glued product that meets customer specifications and expectations.

JOB DUTIES:

*Performs set-up and adjustment of Folding/Gluing equipment.

*Leads/directs and oversees team of Catcher/Packers as assigned.

*Produces glued product to specifications provided in job orders, instruction sheets, CAD files and diagrams, samples and prototypes.

*Ability to perform accurate arithmetic computations, (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication & Division) can be demonstrated along with a mechanical background,

*Basic computer competency

*Six months adjustment or repair-type experience in a mechanical environment or two years of mechanical, trade school equivalency required.

*Previous experience in the adjustment and operation of paperboard box folding/gluing machinery is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Review job ticket and work with Press Assistants to ensure job is set up properly on the press per required specifications and job notes (ink, dies, stock, plates).

Assist in setting up job and changing over to next copy or job.

Run the job setup on the press and log data related to the job setup in the LabelTrax system.

Run the job per specifications and log when completed, noting material used, etc.

While running the press, review printed rolls for quality and consistency related to all aspects of the labels including color registration and die cut.

Following completion of the job, move finished roll to finishing department and breakdown and clean machine in preparation for the next job.

This location uses UV inks but they are open to water based ink experience.

Operate a Rotogravre or Flexographic printing press producing printed products of high quality. Maintain press equipment, assists in training, and ensures a safe and clean working environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide leadership to other team members in performing quality printing and meeting manufacturing goals.

Demonstrate expertise on all rotogravure press equipment and processes.

Demonstrate expertise on ink dispenser operation.

Demonstrate color matching expertise during pre-press and during proofing.

Demonstrate ability to set-up all jobs (includes press settings and trolley set-up)

Proficient at process trouble shooting including visual defects, register, color, drying, contamination, etc.

Provide training to crew members on all equipment and processes.

Read and understand work orders for current jobs and upcoming jobs.

Perform all quality checks and make press adjustments accordingly.

Plan ahead and ensure that all support depts. are prepared for current and upcoming jobs.

Perform appropriate PM on equipment.

Perform daily and periodic cleaning in order to maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the manufacturing area.

Observe and make recommendations on all issues regarding safety, quality and production.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Or one to three years related experience and/or training

Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
